Mission Statement

The mission of the Homer Glen Emergency Management Agency is to prepare our members with the training and proper resources to respond to an emergency or disaster, to assist in recovery efforts following a disaster, and to assist in mitigation to help reduce the effects of disaster situations.

Emergency Management Operation

The Homer Glen Emergency Management Agency is working to provide the community with an effective and efficient emergency management operation which, when applied, will provide the levels of protection for life and property and the recovery assistance which are essential to the residents of the Village of Homer Glen.


Our members are trained in the following standards via approved courses by:

  • American Heart Association
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency
  • Illinois Emergency Management Agency
  • Local Fire Departments
  • Local Police Department
  • National Weather Service

Training Classes

The following is a list of training classes each member must attend:

  • Basic Incident Command
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Radio Communications
  • Search and Rescue
  • Severe Weather Spotting
  • Standard First Aid
  • Traffic Direction
