The Heroes Trail System is made up of several different segments that span throughout the Village of Homer Glen. Heroes Trail begins in scenic Yangas Park, winding through several subdivisions before connecting to Culver Park. This section of the trail also links to Kingston Hills Park, the Homer Township Senior Activity Center, the Healing Garden and the Homer Glen Village Hall. An additional piece of the trail begins at Beaver Lake Drive, west of Bell Road. From here, the trail meanders southward through the ComEd easement, westward along Pin Oak Drive and southward along Golden Oak Drive before connecting to the main portion of the trail.
The newest portion of the Heroes Trail is located just West of Bell Road near Martingale Lane, meandering through the ComEd easement, south to 159th Street. This trail will eventually link to the planned multi-purpose trail that is part of IDOT’s 159th Street widening and reconstruction project. This extension was funded in part by approximately $498,000 in federal grants.
