COVID-19 Updates and Resources
The Village of Homer Glen will continue to provide regular updates to our residents and local businesses, as information becomes available. Village staff is in constant communication with its partner agencies and first responders to make sure necessary information is disseminated. This site will be the primary local source for information. Please follow us on Facebook and our website to stay informed of local happenings and programs that may be able to assist our community during this difficult time. Resources and helpful links are listed below.
In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and for the safety of the general public and Village staff, the Village of Homer Glen is encouraging patrons to conduct Village business online or over the telephone. To limit face-to-face interactions, effective Thursday, March 19, services provided at Village Hall will only be available via email, online, fax and/or by telephone until further notice.
Governor JB Pritzker held a conference call with local governments statewide this afternoon. The Governor clarified his Executive Order that all non-essential businesses must limit attendees or visitors to 50 people, or close. This applies to event spaces, banquet halls, bowling alleys, fitness centers, gyms and theaters as well as restaurants and bars. Grocery stores, hospitals, gas stations, banks, shelters and pharmacies are not affected.
Please DINE LOCAL! Thank you to all of our local restaurants that have decided to remain open for the public, offering drive-thru, curb-side pick-up, and/or delivery. In an effort to promote our local businesses, the Village attempted to contact all of our local restaurants to compile a list of those that will still remain open. We will update this list as additional information is received.
Update 3/18/2020: Due to the current State and Federal emergency mandates imposed on our local restaurants, Mayor Yukich, as the Liquor Commissioner, has enacted the following changes to the Village’s liquor license requirements.
The Village will be allowing restaurants with a Classes “A”, “B” and “F” liquor licenses to sell sealed beer and wine along with carry-out food orders. Prior to offering this service, all local businesses should contact the State of Illinois and their dram insurance providers, to ensure they are in compliance with all applicable state laws and insurance policies. Please note this only applies to the sale of beer and wine and must be offered along with food services. Additionally, this will be only allowed during the Governor’s mandated closure requirements.” If you have any questions please call Village Hall.
