Homer Township Road District
Winter Weather Event Notice
Friday, February 2, 2018
The weather forecast calls for snow to begin late Saturday evening and continue on and off for the next five days. We could see 8 to 10 inches of total accumulation by Wednesday evening if these several events track over our area. Temperatures throughout these events will remain below freezing and vary from the single digits to the mid 20’s. At various times between now and Wednesday we will also experience periods of wind gusts above 25 MPH. Residents should be aware that wind and blowing snow can create hazardous driving conditions on roads in open areas on a sunny afternoon.
Prior to any forecasted winter weather event, the Road District staff will meet to develop a plan to address the roads. We will communicate tomorrow morning to discuss our options for this event. We will post our event plan on the Homer Township Road District web site beginning tomorrow afternoon and update them as weather events develop. Although our goal is to be as pro-active as possible at some point during long duration events such as this one, we become re-active to the ever-changing weather conditions. Residents should be prepared to experience hazardous driving conditions at any time throughout these events.
As of now, these several events collectively are not considered a “major” snow storm but they may be substantial. The difficulty these event present is their duration and not the total snow fall they will produce. Residents are encouraged to monitor the Homer Township Road District web site for updates on this storm between now and Wednesday.
