Heritage Park is a 103 acre park located behind Village Hall at 14240 W. 151st Street. Heritage Park will host a variety of recreational opportunities, act as a central gathering space for the community, and provide interactive access to a beautiful natural environment.
The park is now open to the public, although many sections are currently under construction. The available features include Heritage Circle, a walking and biking trail, open green space, and a fishing pond which includes Bass, Bluegill, and Catfish.
Heritage Park – Expansion Phase II (Veterans Memorial, Pavillion and Architectural Water Feature)
The first phase of the Village of Homer Glen’s Heritage Park Expansion was completed in 2025 with the installation of expanded parking throughout Heritage Circle as well as the installation of the Cul-de-sac Road. In April of 2024, the Village of Homer Glen selected the Lakota Group to provide an updated master plan for Heritage Park. The Lakota Group developed a master plan which reimagined the concept for Heritage Park’s undeveloped areas, incorporating feedback and recommendations from residents, veterans, the Parks and Recreation Committee and Village Staff. The revitalized master plan was formally adopted by the Village Board in October of 2024 to initiate the process of design, development and construction of the master plan. In April of 2025, the Village Board voted to approve the Lakota Group as the firm to provide architectural design and engineering services to bring the newly adopted master plan to life and begin the second phase of the Heritage Park Expansion project. The Lakota Group has completed the first phase of it’s design development process which has been presented to the Parks and Recreation Committee and the Village Board. The design development package can be viewed at the link below and shows the proposed architecture and landscape design for the second phase of expansion which includes a veterans memorial, pavilion, walking trails to enhance connectivity and architectural water feature. The design development package illustrates these improvements through 3D renderings and design palates. With the design development portion complete, the Lakota Group will move into the next phase of the design process by developing construction plans and specifications for the project. Completion of the design process is anticipated by April or May of 2026 with bidding for the construction of the project to follow.
