Sign Permits

Signs have an impact on the overall character of the community. Therefore, the Village has established sign regulations that limit the size, height, number, location and design of a variety of signs. In 2019, the Village adopted a new sign code that expanded allowable sign types in a pro business approach.   The sign code can be accessed at the following link: Section 220-1005 (Signs)

Business Permit Program for Temporary Promotional Signs

Relaxed standards for the use of temporary signs, first introduced with the onset of the COVID pandemic, expired on December 31, 2024.

On December 11, 2024, the Village Board amended the sign code to establish a new business-friendly permit program allowing business owners the flexibility to promote themselves throughout the year. As of January 1, 2025, businesses wanting to use temporary signs for promotion can do so following the new permit program.
