Sign Permits
Signs have an impact on the overall character of the community. Therefore, the Village has established sign regulations that limit the size, height, number, location and design of a variety of signs. Section 220-1005 (Signs) is available to read online for quick reference. Please contact the Planning and Zoning Department with any questions regarding Sign Permits. Sign Permit
In order to obtain a sign permit in the Village of Homer Glen, an applicant must submit a sign permit application and all the required documents listed on the permit application below. Please note that the $50 base sign permit fee will be due at the time of submittal. The remaining balance will be due at the time of sign permit release.
Temporary Signs
On June 10, 2020 the Village Board adopted Ordinance 20-024 to relax standards for temporary signage as an initiative of the COVID Economic Recovery Plan for the Village of Homer Glen. On December 14, 2022, the Village Board extended the expiration date for the relaxed standards for a fifth time to the expiration date of December 31, 2023 with the adoption of Ordinance 22-059. The Village Board and the Community and Economic Development Committee recommended the 12 month extension rather than sunsetting at this time due to ongoing economic challenges for businesses. Further, lighting of temporary signs under the modified standards is now allowed same as the regular standards per the Outdoor Lighting Code. See below the link to the modified standards.
