Join the Village of Homer Glen at the community’s third annual Chalk Fest, Chalk-It-Up! on the sidewalks surrounding the park. Families, professional artists, amateur artists, students and anyone who just wants to chalk are welcome to leave their mark at the park! This is a free contest available to all ages. Please register below!


To register click here. Pre-registration is required. Event is free of charge. Please note, competition space is limited. Each participant will be given one pack of chalk and assigned a chalk-block work space. Participants may register as an individual or a group.


Prizes are awarded to first, second, and third place overall winners. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges from the Village.  

Location / Parking

Chalking will take place in the Active Core area of Heritage Park, located behind Village Hall at 14240 W. 151st Street in Homer Glen. There is plenty of parking throughout Heritage Park.

What to Bring

We recommend that participants bring a towel, hat, sunscreen, bottle of water and a snack. Participants are also welcome to bring extra chalk, chalk pastels and blending tools if they wish. Absolutely no paint will be allowed, of any variety.


All attempts will be made to hold the chalk art contest. In the event of inclement weather, please check the Village of Homer Glen website for notice of cancellation.

Event Schedule

Due to the current COVID-19 situation we will be limiting the number of participants chalking at one time. We are asking participants to register for either the morning or afternoon chalking session. When participants are finished chalking they are asked to leave the chalking area. There will be no awards ceremony on chalking day. Winners will be notified after the event and winning creations will be posted on the Village website and social media pages.

9 a.m. - noon: Morning chalking session

Noon- 3 p.m.: Afternoon chalking session

Rules of Participation

  1. Only NON oil-based pastels are allowed.
  2. The Village of Homer Glen reserves the right to deem any subject matter as inappropriate for this all-ages, non-commercial event. Inappropriate subject matter includes hateful political statements, political campaign/endorsement messages, commercial advertisement (statements or logos by non-sponsoring organizations), or subject matter not suitable for children.
  3. Non-compliance with these rules may result in removal from the event.
  4. The Village of Homer Glen reserves the right to take and use photography from the event for promotional materials.
