Snowman/Gnome Decorating Contest
Decorate a Snowman or Gnome for display at Heritage Park! Individuals, families, organizations, and businesses can participate. The choice of a five-foot-tall wooden snowman or three-foot-tall wooden gnome will be given to all registrants.

Limited Quantities Available! There are 15 snowmen and 20 gnomes available to be sold on a first-come, first-served basis; one snowman or gnome per family/organization/business.
Registration/Entry Fee: The non-refundable entry fee for the gnomes is $15.00. The fee for the snowman is $20.00. Individuals, families, and organizations, and businesses are all welcome. The fee includes the wooden snowman or gnome. Registration and payment for this event is through the Village of Homer Glen website.
Snowman or Gnome pick-up time and location: Reserved cut-outs can be picked up at the Village Hall on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. beginning Monday, November 3.
Snowman or Gnome drop-off location and times: Snowmen/Gnomes can be dropped off at Village Hall anytime in November through Tuesday, November 25 during normal business hours and must be dropped off by November 25 by 5:30 PM. The snowman or gnome will be installed at Heritage Park by Village staff prior to Homer for the Holidays on December 6. A sign indicating the owner of the snowman or gnome will be placed by each snowman or gnome. Village staff will determine the placement location and install the snowman or gnome.
Voting/Awards dates: Three prizes will be awarded: One “People’s Choice Award,” determined by an online vote, One "Mayor's Choice" and one "Homer Glen Junior Woman's Club Choice". Winners will be contacted by January 7, 2026, to receive their prize.
Snowman or Gnome Removal: Snowman or gnome will be removed by Village staff at the beginning of January. Registrants will receive an email of when/where they can be picked up.
GUIDELINES/TIPS & ENTRY RULES
- Any individual, family, organization, school, or business is welcome to participate. There is a limit of one snowman or gnome per family, organization, school, or business.
- Snowman or gnome must be decorated by the registrant.
- Two winners will be chosen.
- The Village of Homer Glen reserves the right to remove any snowman or gnome that deteriorates to an unacceptable level during the month. Please decorate your snowman or gnome with weather-proof materials. If any accessory materials are attached to the snowman or gnome and interfere with installation, the accessory materials may be removed by Village staff.
- The Village of Homer Glen is not responsible for loss or damage to snowmen/gnome while on display or in the drop-off/pick-up areas. Please do not use valuable materials/objects as the snowmen/gnome will not be monitored.
- The Village of Homer Glen will install and provide signage for your snowman/gnome. The name placed on the sign is limited to 25 characters.
- No phone numbers or websites can be placed on your snowman/gnome. A name may be included in the design, but should not be prominent.
- The Village of Homer Glen reserves the right to use photographs, organization names, contact names and snowman or gnome names for publicity purposes.
- Entries must be suited for viewing by small children. Entries that are controversial, religious, political, or graphic in nature will not be accepted. The Village of Homer Glen reserves the right to remove any snowman or gnome it deems offensive or inappropriate.
- There should be no loose items. Secure all items by stapling, nailing, or using waterproof adhesive. Clear tape will not hold up to weather, but colored electrical tape or duct tape will work well. The wind will blow anything not secured well.
- Avoid using food or other substances that may attract wildlife.
- Registrants may check on their snowman or gnome throughout the month and touch up if needed.
- The snowman or gnome will be subject to the weather for one month, so they need to be decorated with weather-resistant materials.
