Thursday, June 27, 2024. The Village of Homer Glen moves toward land purchase with sustainability and growth in mind. The Village currently contracts with the City of Lockport to treat wastewater along the Fiddyment Creek Sanitary Sewer Line for specific users. Although this agreement extends through 2030, the City of Lockport has informed the Village that it will cease treating future wastewater from Homer Glen unless substantial upgrades are made to Lockport's treatment facilities, which would impose significant costs on the Village. As a result, the Village is investigating alternative options for managing wastewater treatment. One promising option under consideration is acquiring property at 159th and Gouger Rd. to establish and operate its own wastewater treatment facility.
As a result, the Village Board recently approved the execution of an Agreement of Purchase and Sale, granting the Village of Homer Glen the sole exclusive right and option, for a period of 90 days, to purchase, for a public use, approximately 30 Acres of property located at 159th and Gougar Rd. This agreement includes a non-refundable option/initial deposit fee of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00); with a potential purchase and close on the Property for the total purchase price of four million dollars ($4,000,000.00), plus all applicable closing and site preparation costs. The 90-day option period allows the Village to continue to assess and evaluate the future purchase of the Property; and should the Village move forward with the purchase, the $50,000 non-refundable option/initial deposit fee would be applied towards the total purchase for any closing pursuant to the Agreement of Purchase and Sale.
