EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE
2:30 PM, Tuesday Sept. 20, 2016
As Of 2:30 PM today, 159th Street was closed from Parker Road to Cedar Road due to a gas leak. The leak is located on the south side of the road just east of Marion Village.
All traffic is being routed to 151st Street via Parker and Cedar Roads. Access to Messenger Circle and Glenview Walk will be from west, 159th and Cedar Roads. Access to Stonebidge Woods from 159th Street will be closed and re-routed through the Pine Hill Estates Subdivision on Pine Hill Drive at 163rd Street. Access to BI Rental, Tee Time Golf Range and the Colonial Manor Vet Clinic will be from the east, 159th and Parker Roads. The leak is located at the entrance to Marian Village and the Loyola Medical Center so access will be on an emergency basis only until crews are able to determine the area is safe for resident to travel.
159th Street will remain closed until the leak is repaired. Nicor is projecting a 12 to 16 hour time frame to complete the repair. This means the 159th Street will not be open until the overnight hours. We are hoping to have the repair complete in time for the Wednesday morning traffic.
Please call the Homer Township Road District if you have any questions.
