The Village of Homer Glen, along with 17 other municipalities in Will County, has been a member of the Will Electric Aggregation Group since 2012. The sole purpose of this group is to gain buying power for the purchase of competitively priced electricity from an alternative retail electric supplier certified by the State.
The current aggregation program, served by Homefield Energy (a Dynegy Company) expires in October 2017. After a thorough bid process Dynegy was chosen as the new retail electric supplier. Dynegy is an independent seller of power and energy service and is certified as an Alternative Retail Electricity Supplier by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC Docket No. 14-0336).
Eligible households and small businesses will receive a letter and opt-out card from Dynegy in early September. Below are details and instructions that are outlined in the letter:
PROGRAM DETAILS
As an eligible participant, your account will be automatically enrolled in the program unless you choose to opt-out by September 22, 2017.
- Your new price of $0.07190 per kWh is guaranteed until October 2018.
- There is no enrollment, switching or early termination fee.
- This is a firm fixed all-inclusive rate.
Based on the Will Electric Aggregation Group's consultant's estimate, the ComEd Price to Compare will be $.726/kWh effective October 1.
NO CHANGES IN YOUR BILLING
You will continue to receive one monthly bill from ComEd. You will still be eligible for the same programs you are eligible for now through the utility, such as Budget Billing, payment agreements and energy efficiency programs. The only change will be in the Electric Supply price on your ComEd bill (https://www.comed.com/MyAccount/MyBillUsage/Pages/PayMyBill.aspx).
ENROLLMENT PROCESS
Once your account is enrolled, you will receive a confirmation letter from ComEd confirming your "switch" to Dynegy. Approximately 30 to 45 days after enrollment you will receive your first bill with your new Dynegy price. Please review the enclosed Terms and Conditions for additional information.
OPT-OUT INSTRUCTIONS
If you choose not to participate, you can elect to be removed from the Program by completing and returning the enclosed Opt- Out Card or calling Dynegy at 844-351-7691 by September 22, 2017. Please be advised you also have the option to purchase electricity supply from a Retail Electric Supplier (RES) or from ComEd pursuant to Section 16-103 of the Public Utilities Act.
