Major reconstruction of Illinois American Water's Chickasaw Hills water reclamation facility (WRF) site located on Parker Road and Seminole Trail was started this month (March 2018). The construction is estimated to be completed in the fall of 2019.
An engineering study, performed by Illinois American Water, determined that reducing the number of water reclamation facilities in Homer Glen would likewise reduce operating costs. Once the improvements are complete at the Chickasaw Hills WRF, the Derby Meadows WRF will be converted from a water reclamation facility to a pumping station, and wastewater treatment will be regionalized at the Chickasaw Hills WRF site.
