Citizens Utility Board's director of governmental affairs Bryan McDaniel, State Senator Sue Rezin, State Representative John Curran, Mayor Roger Claar from the Village of Bolingbrook, and Mayor George Yukich held a press conference today at the Village Hall. The purpose of the news conference was to urge Governor Bruce Rauner to stand up for consumers and veto House Bill 4508, which allows water companies to raise their existing customer's rates to fund municipal acquisitions.
Under HB 4508, the water utility companies can automatically raise their existing customers' rates to fund municipal acquisitions by 2.5 percent for one acquisition, or a total of 5 percent for multiple acquisitions.
