The Southwest Community Concert Band along with guest artists Brass Tracks Jazz Orchestra and the Starlighters Jazz Ensemble will host an outdoor Concert on the Green Sunday, June 28th, with all donations to benefit the Lockport FISH Food Pantry.
This Concert on the Green expands Southwest Community Concert Band’s initiative to help those in need within our community. In 2006, the band started a Christmas Concert and Sing Along/Food Drive to raise food for local food pantries. The Concert on the Green is hosted in partnership with Eagle Rock Community Church at 14367 W. 159th Street, Homer Glen.
The event is free and open to the public, but concertgoers are asked to bring a canned good or monetary offering to benefit the food pantry. Food collections will be held from noon–4 p.m. with the concert from 1-4 p.m.
The Lockport FISH Food Pantry is organized and operated solely by volunteers. The Pantry is also a not-for-profit organization. The pantry serves residents within Illinois’ Lockport and Homer Townships. Each month the pantry provides food and other household items for approximately 300 families in our local serviced communities. Each week, several area grocers donate to the food pantry; these donations (mostly perishable items) are picked up by the Food Pantry van and delivered back to the pantry for distribution to families.
Food donations are always appreciated AND monetary gifts greatly help to fill in the gaps. Food donations can also be brought directly to the food pantry. Monetary donations can be mailed or made directly on-line by clicking on the link below.
