Will County Animal Control has notified the Village of potential rabid bat situation in the Chickasaw subdivision. There were two reported findings of rabid bats at a property in the 13400 Block of W. Little Creek Drive in the Chickasaw subdivision. Testing by the Illinois Department of Public Health concluded that the bats were infected with rabies.
The Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Will County Animal Control are all involved in this case. The Will County Department of Health has advised that all dogs and cats should be currently vaccinated against rabies. Also, bats and wildlife should not be approached or handled.
