The Village of Homer Glen is currently looking to fill Village Board Trustee, Plan Commission, and Committee Member vacancies.

To apply for the Plan Commission or a Village Committee, fill out the application HERE. The deadline for submission is May 15, 2025.

To apply for a Village Board Trustee position, please submit your resume and letter of interest to the Mayor of Homer Glen at MayorChristina@homerlgenil.org

To become an elected official candidate, applicants must:

  • Be 18 years of age, eligible to vote and registered to vote in the Village of Homer Glen
  • Have resided in the Village of Homer Glen for a minimum of one (1) year prior to appointment/election, and be a U.S. citizen
  • Candidate must not have been convicted of certain serious crimes such as bribery, perjury or other felonies
  • The candidate should not have any conflict of interest that could disqualify them from holding office
  • Must be willing to complete OMA (Open Meetings Act) Training
  • Preferred to be able to blend technical, interpersonal and leadership skills effectively and professionally
  • Preferred to possess strong communication skills which includes active listening and problem-solving abilities
  • Shall display sound, ethical judgement and integrity
  • Shall be comfortable to speak in front of a public audience
  • Shall be able to build strong, professional interpersonal relationships with residents, board members, staff and stakeholders
  • Must be willing to review board packets and visit sites for cases that will be coming before the board and ask appropriate questions if applicable to help move projects forward
  • Must be financially literate as municipal officials often deal with budgets and financial matters necessary for making informed decisions and implementing policies
  • Must be able to analyze and interpret various data
  • The candidate will shall not have any scheduling conflict that would keep them from attending Village Board meetings scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month
  • Preferred to have or had previous parliamentary experience, or some familiarity with it
  • Preferred to have shown investment in the community as a volunteer or served on a committee
  • Shall be willing to be active and participate in Village sponsored events and engage the community
