Be advised that effective November 30, 2025, the updated State of Illinois Energy Code (2024 IECC) takes effect for permitted construction projects. A link to the Illinois amendments can be found here.
The 2024 IECC offers more flexibility than the current 2021 edition by lowering some prescriptive insulation requirements and expanding the menu of credit options, allowing builders and design professionals to choose cost-effective paths to compliance.
Any permits and plans received prior to November 30, 2025, will still be subject to the 2021 Energy Code.
